Sonia BAKARIC, Journalist
A Frenchwoman of Bosnian-Croat origin, Sonia Bakaric was barely 20 when she covered Europe's most bloody war since World War II from AFP's Zagreb bureau. At the end of November 2017, the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia handed down a life sentence to Ratko Mladic, the 'Butcher of Bosnia', for genocide, warcrimes and crimes against humanity. Now based in Paris and deputy head of the international desk, in charge of the team covering Africa, the journalist offers her harrowing testimony of those war years in the Correspondent blog.
